Nov 6, 2010 "Winter Texans"

Leaving Stephen F. Austin State Park we are now headed to the Gulf Coast Region - Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, Texas.

Along the way I was reading about our new destination and discovered we are not called “snow birds” here in Texas, we are referred to as “Winter Texans.”

Yet another new adventure! According to the material I have read, Brazos Bend SP has an observatory, nature center, fishing, 35 miles of trails, huge live oak trees draped in Spanish moss, three lakes, whitetail deer, over 300 species of birds, and alligators. This should be great!

However the remainder of today is about finding a great camping site…we think we did, and settling in until Friday.
