Nov 13, 2010 Island Adventure
Last night we arrived to a beautiful evening on Galveston Island State Park, Texas. What an adventure this is turning out to be!
We were able to get the great “camp site” we had hoped for. There are number of other campers here, probably not as many as would normally be since this weekend is rain, cool temperatures, and the ever present wind! See Photos Here
Last night we did have a great evening – walk along the beach, enjoyed a beautiful sunset and warm evening but around 3:00am – that all changed. Rain, rain, rain!
Earlier tonight we took a drive and were surprised at the many homes that are either new or refurbished since Hurricane Ike. All on stilts which we find out is “the law.” We made a stop at a little store and after talking with the women there, we got the rundown on what happened here during the hurricane. We decided this is not a place we would like to live – but a visit is just perfect!
Tonight is organizing so we can go to Houston tomorrow and I will get a flight to Salt Lake City, UT on Monday where I will meet some girlfriends from home, and do some genealogical research – coming back to Houston on Friday and we will head back to Galveston Island.
