June 26, 2009 Heading for them cooler hills!!!

June 26 – We left Milford and drove to Goodland, Kansas and stayed overnight at the very nice KOA. Big storms had been surrounding us and we thought this “would be the night” – but we escaped the storm and were treated to a beautiful rainbow.
We had such a wonderful visit with Maggie, Jeff and the kids, and even with the oppressive heat and humidity - as always we relied on our adage “we can’t control the weather” and had a fantastic, fun adventure and are looking forward to a cooler Colorado!

June 21 to 25, 2009 and still melting...

June 21 to 25 - After enduring the heat and humidity, no inconsistent Internet service, we decided it was time to move on. We left Knob Noster on the 24th and drove to Milford State Park in Kansas. It was still hot but not quite as humid. Milford was really pretty with wonderful walking trails and a huge lake…yet let me say again…HOT!

June 20, 2009 Knob Noster State Park

June 20 – After driving through some more rain which of course helps the “comfort index” – NOT so much, Rick found this wonderful hidden jewel of a State Park in Knob Noster, MO. Surprisingly there are not many people, and those that are here will be leaving Monday. Today was a relaxing day of knitting, catching up on computer stuff and organizing.

June 19, 2009 Time to go

June 19 – We had a fantastic, fun visit and as excited we are when we get to see and visit with Addie, David and their parents – we are so very sad to leave. Maybe they will come to Colorado… hooray!!!

June 18, 2009 - Another busy day...

June 18 - Maggie had to work today and Jeff took the day off to spend with us, and help with the kids. Addison and David began their day with tennis lessons. How cute! Not yet the caliber of Serena or Roger just yet…they are learning and having fun. Before afternoon naps, the amazing discovery of a Tyrannosaurus Rex footprint and a walk down a hidden path to Addie’s new school. While they napped we helped with the new home. They’re up now and off to another swim lesson and of course the most awaited event of our visit…SHOPPING SPREE!!!

June 17, 2009 - It's HOT & HUMID..Let me repeat that a million times!

June 17 - Even though we were raised in the Midwest, without air-conditioning you forget (or maybe want to forget) the humidity, after so many years living in Colorado. Whew!! Today with Addie and David was a great day in spite of the oppressive heat and humidity. First swimming, and check out David’s famous cannonball - then lunch, then naps, then TBall…and finally cooling baths!

June 16, 2009 - We've finally arrived to a wonderful surprise!

June 16 - Continued on I70 - again an uneventful ride - arrived at Jeff and Maggie's new home in Sunset Hills, MO around 5:00pm and was greeted by the coolest welcome sign Addie had made for us. Then off to a yummy dinner at Gianino’s Italian Restaurant with Maggie, Addie & David. We missed Jeff - he was still at work. After dinner, Addie and David wanted to “camp out sleepover” in T2…Addie helped clean-up, and in the end…it was only Addison who wanted to “rough it” with us.

June 15, 2009 - All legal and on our way

June 15 - On our way - but our first stop was the Broomfield County Clerk and Recorder to renew our RV registration. Sticker Shock!!!

Our first day of travel was uneventful. Did you know that when driving through Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas you see a lot of - well NOTHING?

We spent the first night in Salina under a tornado watch. Luckily no tornadoes, no hail - just lots of rain and lightning.

June, 14, 2009 - Still in Broomfield

As JoAnne always says: "You can plan the plan..." We were all ready to begin our trip to Sunset Hills, MO to see Jeff, Maggie, Addie, and David when we realized that our vehicle registration had expired. Yikes!

So, we have decided to postpone the trip for one day. We will go the the Broomfield Clerk and Recorder tomorrow AM and get all "legal" before we hit the road. Bummer!
